Today we are looking at Snap Fitness Maitlands‘ mobile strategy that has really impressed us over the past couple of months.

They still use the other forms of marketing but have recently upped their game in particular when it comes to mobile. Whether it is for member retention, member touchpoints or marketing they are using mobile to ensure they get their message out their quickly and effectively.​

For this case study we look into a recent campaign that solely targeted Snap Fitness Maitlands’ recent ex-members to get them back to the gym. This resulted with…​

9 old members returning out of 90 (that’s a 10% turnaround!)​

Why it works

This is what Cameron the Owner had to say, “We are finding that mobile is getting the best return for our marketing pushes. We still use other methods like social media but we are finding MOBIPOST to be more effective.”​

“One of the best uses for us is that, opposed to the usual flyer drops, we send an MMS instead that works out to be cheaper.”​

For this campaign, Snap Fitness Maitland wanted to target their ex-members and did so by exporting their database and only sending to them. Other methods, new or old, unfortunately don’t have the precise ability to target in on your audience as well as mobile does.​

The problem with a broadcast message (ie. TV, social media, flyer drops) is that you end up scattering your message and all you can do is hope that your message is seen be the right people. Mobile has the benefit of controlling who views (narrowcasting) the message.​

What does the future hold for Snap Fitness Maitland?

There are many types of mobile campaigns you can have that allows you to be creative. Snap Fitness Maitland have an ongoing New Member Welcome promotion, as well as a 7 day pass with various member and prospect sales.​

They are also doing great work with retention with Birthday messages and member touchpoints such as 8 Week Challenge motivational messages that keep their members in check.​
